# STEP 3: Headphones Set Up
1. Grab a **hearback** mixer. They're usually in the *control room* or scattered around the *tracking room.*
2. Connect it to the floor panel using an ethernet cable (these can be found on and behind the microphone cabinet).
3. Attach the **hearback** to a **Microphone stand.**
4. Plug in **Headphones** (typically scattered around the studio) into the bottom right jacks.
5. On Ableton, Click the 'Master' drop down menu and select 'Ext. Out' for both audio tracks.
Next, click the '1/2' drop down menu underneath and select '17/18' (possibly 19'/20' in other daws) for both audio tracks.
It should look like this:
6. Create a 'Return' track by pressing 'Command'+'Option'+'T.' It should show up here:
7. Click on the third '-inf' box for each track and drag up until it reads '0.'
