# MIDI keyboards

On their own, MIDI keyboards can’t make any noise but once you connect it to the computer with digital audio workstation or DAW software you can compose and play music.

Their a number of DAWs are installed on CATS workstations including:

* Ableton Live
* Apple Logic Pro
* Reaper
* Adobe Audition

The keyboard in the multimedia labs usually sit near a particular station but you can roll it to any station or use it with your own laptop.

### Getting Started:&#x20;

1. Roll the keyboard to a computer&#x20;
2. Plug in the USB cord into the computer
3. Open the DAW of your choice to get started
